What you need in Beginner Guitar Lessons to start out right

I know you're eager to start playing guitar, especially if you're just starting out, but take it from me you don't want to rush into just any beginner guitar lessons. If you're thinking of enrolling in private classes in your local city go for it, you'll learn a lot. But if you're thinking about online or video guitar lessons take a few moments to read this article, you could save yourself time and money. There are a few specific things you want to look for before buying or enrolling for guitar lessons online. Almost all of the websites you visit will give a great pitch for the their product, but it's difficult to know if it's worth while until after you've already handed over your money. I'm going to give you a few tips about what to look for in beginner guitar lessons so that hopefully you'll make the right purchase decision the first try.

Online Videos or a DVD?

The two most popular alternatives to learn to play guitar on your own are either ! purchasing a guitar lesson dvd or enrolling in an online video lessons membership. Both alternatives can be great, but one is likely better for you then the other. The first thing to consider is can you picture yourself watching guitar lessons on your computer screen? You have to be connected to the Internet in order to watch lessons online, therefore you probably have to watch them on your monitor. Of course, dvds can be watched on your computer as well, but you also have the option of watching those lessons on your TV via your home dvd player.

What do you want to learn?

I know, you want to learn to play guitar, but more then that do you want to learn to play popular songs and jam with friends? If so then you want to find a program that teaches you chords, some scales, and of course strumming techniques. You can probably go without a bunch of theory lessons and learning to read music for now. Tab will be more important to learn, espcially if yo! u're going to be playing tunes off the radio.

Now i! f you wa nt to learn how to read music, and become a more established musician you're going to want to find a website or home study course that offers in depth theory and reading lessons. If there's anything some programs skip it's the theory part, it's not exciting, and most beginners don't like it. How ever it's a must if you want to continue to grow as a guitar player. Not all lessons offer this, and it's important that you review the lesson plans before buying any set.

Both methods, online video guitar lessons, and offline dvd guitar lesson can provide you with an excellent education on the instrument. It's my opinion that if you're going to be taking your lessons very serious you should buy a guitar lesson dvd home study program. Most of the time, these products take more care in the quality and organization of their lessons. This includes teaching more about reading music, and musical theory. If that doesn't concern you, and you want to get up to speed as soon as pos! sible so you can start playing I suggest you enroll for an online guitar lesson membership site. The lessons won't be as organized but you can pick and choose what to learn, and learn it fast.
