Top 3 Secret Discoveries of Happy Songs

How is it that happy songs have the power to change your mood and motivate you to action in a fraction of a second?

By simply looking at studies of happy song’s polar opposite, violent songs, we can understand its impact on the human mind. Not too long ago you may recall some very concerned parents and congressmen in the news debating over the violent content in music and its repercussions.

1) Our first discovery is that these studies prove violent angry music increases aggressive thoughts and feelings, leading to aggressive and violent behavior. According to a study a few years ago from the American Psychological Association (APA) in Washington, “Songs with violent lyrics increase aggression related thoughts and emotions and this effect is directly related to the violence in the lyrics." The findings, appearing in the May issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, contradicts p! opular notions of positive catharsis or venting effects of listening to angry, violent music on violent thoughts and feelings.

According to the study, "The violent songs increased feelings of hostility without provocation or threat," according to the authors, and this effect was not the result of differences in musical style, specific performing artist or arousal properties of the songs. "Even the humorous violent songs increased aggressive thoughts.” The increases in aggressive thoughts and feelings due to violent songs have implications for real world violence, according to lead researcher Craig A. Anderson, Ph.D. of Iowa State University.

2) Contrary to the effect of happy songs,

"Aggressive thoughts created by violent music can influence perceptions of ongoing social interactions, coloring them with an aggressive tint. Such aggression-biased interpretations can, in turn, instigate a! more aggressive response -verbal or physical -than would have! been em itted in a nonbiased state, thus provoking an aggressive escalatory spiral of antisocial exchanges," said Dr. Anderson.

3) Since violent music leads to violence then we can easily arrive at the conclusion that happy songs lead to happy motivated people who are more interested in helping than in hurting. From this perspective, happy songs could go a long way toward creating world peace. Imagine Osama Bin Laden listening to Shaka Buku every day or Stevie Wonder, or some other top happy song artist. Ultimately, by listening to any kind of music what we are feeling is the life-condition of the creator of the piece of art. This becomes infectious.

Take a good happy song for instance. If you hear a happy song that makes you instantly feel joy even if you're in the worst of moods, and this motivates you to speak to someone you've been avoiding or motivates you to make a phone call and get things done then ! listening to happy songs can lead to a very positive addiction. Possibly taking further action to search out more Happy Songs, start a collection, listen in the car, in the gym, at home and even seeking out the happy song artists themselves to find out just how they become so happy.
