Yamaha Synthesizer Keyboard Reviews
by Suresh Bist
10/26/2010

Here is review of mid range Yamaha synthesizer keyboards. Yamaha is one of the very few brands that not only have a good selection of arrangers but also synthesizer keyboards. The range of synths is also good with models that are value-for-money synthesizers as well as workstations like yamaha motif.

After dabbling with arrangers, if you are looking to upgrade to something advanced, you may consider a synthesizer from Yamaha. The Yamaha motif is its most powerful and expensive synths but there are other low-priced models as well.

The Yamaha MM6 synth is a much "liter' version of the motif with some sounds taken from it. As with most synths, it is well suited for creating hip hop or dance music, with most sounds taken directly from the Motif and an amazing arpeggiator. Another aspect which is quite common with any yamaha synthesizer keyboard is it's easy to use interface.

Another expensive but power keyboard is the Yamaha MO6 synth. This is more pow

Why Should You Buy Yamaha DGX Grand Piano Keyboard?
by Suresh Bist
10/20/2010

The Yamaha DGX keyboard series has instruments with more than 61 keys, and includes many features and functions of an arranger keyboard. Some models in this series have fully weighted keys and feel more like a piano so you can opt for one if you like. You get the fun features of an arranger bundled with 88 weighted keys on these keyboards.

There are some other digital pianos from Yamaha, especially the Clavinova and the Arius series, which are better in looks and feel, but then they are quite costly.

A Yamaha DGX keyboard is a toned down version at a much lower cost. Yamaha DGX 230 and Yamaha DGX 640 are the two models that fall at the lower end as well as the higher end of the series respectively.

Most of the Yamaha DGX keyboard are lightweight and portable, but some of them can still be a bit heavy to move around. The weighted keys and the fact that some models come bundled with a stand can add to the weight.

The DGX keyboards have the typ

Ringtones the multibillion dollar business.

Yet another year's growth in the mobile ringtone market has confirmed its position as a major force in the music industry.

Once considered a passing craze, ringtones now account for more than 10% of the global music market and are overtaking CD sales sooner than expected. Few thought that the monophonic tones of the late 1990s would evolve into the multi-billion dollar market that exists today. But, following the advent of true polyphonic ringtones in 2003, the realisation of their potential has developed a fresh momentum.

Unable to ignore the ringtone market, the music business has come to embrace its future and its influence on youth culture. This is especially true of the hip-hop industry whose output makes-up more than half of all downloaded ringtones. Successful artists such as 50 Cent, Mariah Carey and Kanye West have all learnt that ringtones are by no means a niche product.

If there is a key to this success then it is probably the creation of a 'total product', that is, the full customisation of phones with ringtones, wallpapers, screensavers, logos, picture messages and games. This has led to huge consumer choice and demand, with endless catalogues of music and themes now available on both mono and polyphonic phones. Another factor has been the obvious media impact, with the likes of the infamous Crazy Frog ringtone experiencing unprecedented coverage.

This popularity should continue for a while yet, thanks to advances in sound quality and the use of MP3 and Real Music by the current generation of phones. There are still new markets to explore as well, with the music-loving Latin Americans expected provide the next big growth area.

Ultimately, the long term success of the ringtone market could depend on the ability of the major phone manufacturers like Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung to combine the very latest technology with wide-ranging compatibility; a balance which is becoming increasingly important in this truly global industry.

Music software 101

Which Music Software Programs Fit Your Needs?

Want to find out how to listen to all your favorite songs whenever you want? If so, you’ll want to learn more about music software and how you can install some programs onto your computer. Here are some descriptions of some basic music software programs you will want to learn more about:

CD Ripper

A CD Ripper program allows you to convert tracks from a compact disc to your mp3 player, or onto your computer. You can make your own mp3s from audio CDs, so that you make your own song selections. You can also convert batches of WAV decoded files at a time to mp3 files on the CD Ripper, and if you want to download this program onto your computer, you’ll need to have Microsoft Windows 95, 98, or 2000, and a CD-ROM drive. For most CD Ripper programs, you can try a free download first before purchasing the product.

Audio Editors

If you are into recording and creating your own music, a n audio editor program may be a good investment. An audio editor program allows you to save your own studio sessions or songs to modify later. Most include a metronome (to keep music and vocals in rhythm) and an audio mixer. The mixer allows you to adjust different music track settings like tone, pitch or volume. On some programs you can even ‘beat match’ between tracks, thus allowing for a smoother transition between songs. One audio editing program you may want to try is Blaze Media Pro, a program which is also a CD burner and converter. And, if you’re recording a large file, most audio editors will be able to support your files with no problem at all. If you are using a multi-track editor, one thing to keep in mind is whether your sound card and memory capabilities are up to the task of handling large volumes of songs,.

Although most audio editor programs are commercial (and not freeware) and have a standard price tag, you can receive free trials for audio editor programs as well. Be aware of the memory and sound card requirements as designated by the company who produces the software. Depending on who makes the software, it may be available for Windows XP, Windows 98, ME, 2000 and even Mac OSX.

Christmas Ringtones

Ring Christmas Bells! Cell Phone Ringtones for Christmas

'Tis the season to buy gifts for your family, smell the holly and evergreen, and eat lots of seasonal goodies. If you're in the mood for Christmas, shouldn't your cell phone be in the mood too? You can get some great Christmas ringtones for your cell phone, and get yourself and everyone around you in the mood of the season. Best of all, more and more of the new ringtones are moving toward the realistic true tones, and the ones that aren't true tones are mostly polyphonics. No more tinny "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" for you!

What's more, if there's a Scrooge on your Christmas list, you can help get him or her in the mood for the season by sending a ringtone to their cell phone. It's one of the latest and greatest way of letting someone know you care about them.

You can get the following types of Christmas ringtones for your cell phone:

Fun songs. You want "Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo" from South Park? You'll find it here. Or maybe you want something unique: how about a techno remix of "The Little Drummer Boy?" Whatever your preference, you can find a perfect Christmas ringtone to express your joy in the season.

Traditional favorites. If your favorite Christmas song is "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," you're in luck. This and dozens of other traditional Christmas songs can be downloaded to your cell phone as ringtones.

Religious favorites. Your favorite song is "What Child Is This?" You prefer the songs you sang in church as a child to the modern ones that seem to negate the true meaning of Christmas? You can find the songs you remember and love today as ringtones you can put on your cell phone.

Instrumental songs. Because of the limitations still inherent in even the best ringtones, the ones that sound the best are the ones that are primarily instrumental. You can find a fantastic version of "Ave Maria" for your cell phone, or you can find "Ring Christmas Bells" and other old favorites.

International Christmas Music. You want something really different that translates well to a polyphonic ringtone format? Try one of the "Christmas at Bali" ringtones, which translates a Christmas favorite into an Oriental sound, using unusual sounds and blended background noises to make your ringtone the coolest one around. Or you can try "Christmas in Palestine," or "Russian Christmas," depending on what you really like.

You may want something else to go with your ringtones. You can find great wallpapers and screensavers with Christmas themes as well as your ringtone themes. Whether you want St. Nick on your phone, Garfield in Christmas attire, or the soft beauty of a Thomas-Kinkaid-style Christmas landscape, you can find it. Put together the perfect theme, with wallpaper, screensaver, and ringtone, and send it to the ones you love in lieu of a Christmas card.

However you want to use your Christmas ringtones, they're there for you. Celebrate Christmas in style with the best ringtones on your phone.

Nokia Themes: Celebrate in Style

Whether you're celebrating a holiday or a birthday, an anniversary or graduation, or you just want to express yourself, a Nokia theme can be the way to do it. With new bright colored screens and great polyphonic theme music, your Nokia phone can have the theme to put you in the mood or make your season brighter. Or you can use a Nokia theme for someone else to put them in the mood.

A Nokia theme is more than just a ring tone. It's also a wallpaper and screensaver that are designed to work with your ring tone choices, and that you can switch around to suit yourself as the seasons change, or as you do.

What can you do with a Nokia theme?

1. Send it to someone you love. Instead of buying the traditional Mothers Day or Fathers Day card, a Nokia theme letting your mum or dad know how special they are to you is a great way of letting them know you remember them. Or you can send an anniversary theme to your wife or boyfriend, birthday themes to tha t special someone, or a rock theme or other personalized Nokia theme to someone as a special occasion gift or just because.

2. Celebrate the season. Sometimes we all have a little trouble getting into the holiday spirit. Having a Christmas song in your Nokia theme can make a difference; or a Valentine's theme can be great in February, both to keep you in that romantic mood and to remind your significant other that the Big Day is on its way. Or maybe you're just one of those people who likes to decorate everything for your favorite holiday. Either way, a Nokia theme for the season can be a great idea.

3. Brag a little. Did you just graduate, or did you just land that great new job? Maybe you just had a new baby, or your girl just agreed to marry you. You might be able to find a Nokia theme that's perfect to express your pride about your new accomplishment, status, or addition.

4. Express yourself. With Nokia themes based around the Bible, around rock and roll, odd aliens, and technology, you can express your preferences and a part of your personality with your Nokia phone. Think of it as a modern way to wear a button to let people know who you are â€" or as an electronic bumper sticker.

5. Have some fun. With Nokia themes for just about everything, you can download themes to your phone that are just fun. How about a theme focused around aliens and rock? Or sports? Or the beach? Or maybe your favorite celebrity. Maybe you like surrealist art, or computer generated art. Whatever you prefer, you'll find a Nokia theme that will work for you.

No matter what you're looking for in a Nokia theme, you'll be able to find it here. Fun-loving or serious minded, avant-garde or conservative, you can find the things you’re passionate about in your Nokia themes.

Polyphonic Ring Tones- Old-Fashioned?

In the beginning was the ring (really more of an electronic trill or beep) -- dull, yet serviceable, using only one tone track; and with it came the single-line melody -- not much of a choice.

Then Nokia invented text messaging, and Paanen, a Finnish programmer, realised that you use the same technology to easily transmit songs to mobile phone handsets. This led to the development of Harmonium, the first complex polyphonic sound creator. Instead of being locked into single tones, users suddenly could have rings with harmony and texture.

Still, someone had to programme the sounds; you couldn't just convert your favourite songs into Harmonium polyphonic sounds. Digital content providers picked up Harmonium quickly and used it to create polyphonic ringtones, selling them to both phone users and phone providers. While polyphonic tones were better than monotones, they still sounded more like an old video game than the music they were patterned after.

MP3 Ringtones: The New Wave

Today, ringtone providers are switching to MP3 ringtones with realistic, near-CD-quality sound. Also called master tones or true tones, these are usually bits of a real song, using your favourite music to alert you to a call. Voice ringtones, sound effects, and instrumental or lyrical music are all available as MP3 ringtones today.

MP3 ringtones today account for two thirds of new mobile ringtones. The sound is a snippet of your favourite music with lyrics and the whole band playing -- much nicer than the old-fashioned ring or dull monotone melody. Most mobile phone manufacturers today include this type of ringtone on their newest handsets. Even better, you can program today's phones to play different tones for different reasons.

If you have more than one life, as most people do, you can also have multiple ringtones. The songs you want played when you're out at a pub are probably different from the ones you want sounding at work and with most phones today it's not hard to switch. You can also assign different ringtones to different people; your mother might have a radically different tone from your boyfriend.

Most cell phones come with some ringtones pre-installed, but you can find the ones you really like out on the wireless web. There are several methods for downloading ringtones. You can subscribe to a service that will send them to your phone weekly for a fee. Or you can download new ringtones from your favourite band's website. If you prefer to look at a wider variety of ringtones, you can download them directly to your phone from several sources, using either a scrollable menu or choosing a numerical code linked to the ringtone you want. Not all rings are compatible with all phones, so do try to sample them first.

If your ringtone sounds awful, it may not be the ringtone; it may be the phone. Older phones aren't perfectly compatible with the newer
ringtones, though they'll probably play them. Imagine the difference between stereo systems in the 1950s and today; that's about the difference you're looking at between a three-year-old phone and a brand new one, in terms of sound output. Your mobile phone provider should be able to tell you what your phone can handle.

The Art of Music

Music is the art of arranging sounds in periodic time so
as to produce a continuous, unified, and evocative
composition, as through melody, harmony, rhythm, and
timbre.

It is also the vocal or instrumental sounds possessing a
degree of melody, harmony, or rhythm. Music can also
be when an aesthetically pleasing or harmonious sound
or combination of sounds are produced example the
music of the water falling from a tap in a vessel.

Most of the time music is kept in memory and
performance only. If handed down orally, this music
may be considered "traditional" or not considered
composed by individuals. Different musical traditions
have different attitudes towards how and where to
make changes to the original source. If the music is
written down, it is generally in some manner which
attempts to capture both what should be heard by
listeners, and what the musician should do to perform
the music.

In most of the parts of the world music is a part of
everyday life. Chanting and singing during religious
rites and festivals are very common. Music as a
performing art is very usual among Indians. It was also
among the seventeenth-century New England settlers
who used music during their religious observances by
chanting psalms in the meeting house as an important
communal activity.

By the end of the century psalm singing had become
dissonant since worshipers could no longer read the
musical patterns in the religious book. The right
rendering of tunes was of lesser importance than
religious passion so many ministers and musical
refreshers, observed the teaching of musical notation to
restore order in the community. Regular singing soon
gave rise to the development of singing schools and the
creation of music for secular entertainment.

The revolutionary war s aw a flowering of musical
creativity. Supporters of the American cause quite often
changed the words of British songs, such as "Yankee
Doodle," to taunt their adversaries. The immediate post
revolutionary cultural climate was one of optimism that
Americans could create their own culture free of English
influence.

In the 1850s, the call for an independent American
music was heard again, this time from a composer
whose New York lectures in the early fifties inspired an
interest in the development of an American musical
language. But the drive for cultural independence fell
short.

With the wars came the marches and sentimental
songs that spoke of home, wives, mothers and children
became popular. Composers and entrepreneurs printed
many of these. In the second half of the century, many
successful American composers had studied in Europe
and adopted the romantic style despite the on going
arguments for an American music. Many men who
earned their livelihoods as professors achieved
respectability with works that bore considerable
resemblance to similar pieces being composed in
Europe at the time.

In the end of the century, major orchestras came up in
New York. Smaller communities observed
performances by local bands, which reflected the
popular taste for dances, marches, and synchronizing
excerpts. The troupes moving throughout the country,
performed combined comedic episodes, scenes from
Shakespeare's plays, dancing, and minstrel songs
performed in black face.

U2 Tickets

In the fall of 1976, a popular high school student Paul Hewson observed a note on the notice board of Mount Temple Comprehensive School in Dublin . It was from a 14 year old student Larry Mullen and he had asked for some music lovers to come and join a band. Paul's immediately answered the call and so did three other lads, Dave Evans, Dick Evans and Adam Clayton. A five-piece band was organized with the name of "Feedback". However, Dick Evans left the band to join another one after some time. The band altered their name to "The Hype" but ultimately they set on to " U2".It was this name which took them to the heights of the sky and made it one of the hottest band of 1980's.

17 th March 1978 was an unforgettable day for U2 as they got their first major break by wining a music talent contest on St. Patrick's Day in Limerick . One of the judges of the contest was Jackie Heyden working for CBS Records. Observing the electrifying performance of the boys, he became an immediate fan of U2. It was Jackie Heyden who first took U2 to the studio for recording their debut demo. Although it was not so successful it was still a real confidence booster for the young men.

Their thrilling music and breathtaking performances soon managed to amass crowds of dedicated fans. Through the combination of devotion and passion they rose to be the most popular rock and roll bands of 80's. The zealous struggle of U2 allowed them to nab a respectable place in the music world during the era of synthesized pop and heavy metal music.

They launched their debut album in 1979 with the name "U 2 three", which grabbed the top place in Ireland music charts. Later when it was released in England , it was a disappointing failure.

The next year was filled with extensive touring worldwide for the band. In a couple of years two of their albums were in the market, naming "The Boy" and "October", and the boys were now recognized in Ireland . Nevertheless, U2 really hit the big time with the release of their album "War", released in March 1983. The "New Year's Day" single became chart topper in England .

U2 was on the flow and their records were selling like hot cake throughout the world. Their 7 th LP "The Joshua Tree" did record breaking selling in England and remained the big seller in 22 other countries. The fame of U2 was swelling uncontrollably and they amassed millions of dollars from world over.

Next albums were "Achtung Baby",1991, "Zooropa",1993, "Pop"1997and their latest album " How to Dismantle a Atomic Bomb",2004, which are still remembered by millions of rock music lovers.

There has been no deterioration in the fame of U2 till the present day. Several U2 concerts are still due during this summer in Spain, England, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland and other European countries. Millions of fans are excited about these concerts all over the world, as can be judged by the fact that most of the tickets have been sold out.

U2 has been maneuvering the rock music scenario constantly for over two complete decades which is an achievement of sorts. They have chartered success on their own terms on both the artistic and business sides in the music industry. And it seems apparent to thousands of their fans that their sun of limitless fame might never set!
